It’s a friendship story
Aniol and Arnau met back in the 90’s at the University Polytechnic of Barcelona. It was a nice place to be in your twenties, Barcelona, festivals like Sonar were kicking off, Laurent Garnier all night long at the Marbella beach place in 2000 to name one, with the famous “excess luggage” mix for those who remember, everything was possible back then, even smocking in the clubs.
What could have been a 3 years study plan turned into a 6 one as partying was a serious job too. Hopefully the 2 finally became civil engineers and made a career out of it but the love of music and the friendship stayed and growed strong and here we are in 2024, the official year of the birth of the Sound Society Organisation. From an original idea from Aniol, strongly inspired by the sound system culture and some plans gathered here and there on the internet thanks to the community of Hi Fi lovers, almost built with his own bare hands and funded by the Sound Society Family all together. Arnau could not wait to leverage his acquaintances in the festival and club scene where he evolves with his well established engineering agency Atim and promote the sound system to make it available to the many.
Barely existing and already booked and already booked for some major festivals and clubs in Barcelona in 2025, it couldn’t have happened one without the other and that’s the beauty of it.
It’s also a family business
Don’t be fooled, those 2 can’t do shit without us and that’s where, we, the women, come into the picture, the sound society being not only a society in its most democratically sense but also a family business. Funny thing about this dysfunctional family is that we probably met all around the same time mostly 15 years ago, on the dancefloor. Leila, Aniol’s wife, was back then between Paris and Berlin working full time for the electronic music industry, for clubs lie the Rex Club in Paris or labels in Berlin, since techno as always been her passion since she went on her first rave party in 1995, little did she knows she was signing off for years of parties… Tati, Arnau’s wife, as a production expert, is bringing her experience to the table supported by her agency, Tropico.
And now, here we are, uniting our skills to make this happen. Aniol built it, Arnau places it, Tati produces it and Leila makes sure the world knows about it, creating the narrative and visual storytelling.
It’s like flying on a plane and building it at the same time and we live for it.
